31 days, 31 poems and all I can say is I’m truly grateful that with this Florette, l have completed the challenge of OctPoWriMo -2020. This is the first time I have taken up to writing poetry continuously for a month. More than just writing verses, I learnt of various forms; of course, for an amateur like me, it was always challenging to keep up to the syllable count and maintaining the meters and rhythm. But then, as always, despite the million flaws in my writing, my dear fellow bloggers were always there encouraging me every time I tried a new poetry form, inspiring me💛. Thank you all, for the love and support throughout.😊
What if we lived without darkness Just enlightened in our brightness Would we have valued its true worth? As we do in this good, dark Earth… Now I know why we need both, to restore balance.
Hand in hand, the duo set off And we decide who leads; it’s tough They say light and dark co-exist Seems right as I live in its midst, Embracing its value, though the journey gets rough.
I am, yours sincerely, A poetess of inky nights; Mild in her demeanour, Weird in her verses Curious of the lights That seeps in to inspire Forever shut minds.
I am, yours truly, A whisper of your thoughts That echoes in your silence A word of your dreams, oddly strong to make your eyes twinkle with hope Call me out when fear brings you down For, I am you, your faithful friend!!!
As vague thoughts meander along Quaint contours construing our lives Whistling past our intricacies Jolting us to where we belong… We are vagabonds, here to bond, Till we halt amid the wild throng And leave them with some memories; As vague thoughts meander along…
Journeys set on mysterious pathways Decided by our choices all the way To reach a Paradise, the goal of all; Yet our choices display disparate paths Encumbered with nearly-right alternates We flounder but name a mortal who doesn’t. Though some be made right, timely forgiven, Not all grave mistakes can be forgiven. One’s choices that birthed the gravest sorrows Own it, sincerely and wholeheartedly Maybe, that’s what can be rightly done; as You stand blemished in your choicest choices. Destiny reveals one’s paths, my belief; Do remember to celebrate each step!!!
Ancestors, veiled beyond time, Yet a part of them alive, In prayers and remembrances, by those of us who believe. Seeking their blessings, accepting their graces, I feel magic sparkling between the past and present. As we cherish the goodness of our heritage, In the warmth of friends and family… May we remember with warmth, love and respect The past that brought us our present to an even better future.
