Truths Of Mine

(A Villanelle written for OctPoWriMo- Day 14)

These truths of mine, aren’t they obvious?
For I lay my truths bare here, with pain and pride
Despite being silenced by diffidence

My words reveal my integrity and principles
A conscious effort to accept humanity and abhor discrimination
These truths of mine, aren’t they obvious?

For sure, I’m not upright always
Anger takes the better of me, at times
Despite being silenced by diffidence

I’m an icon of imperfection, of course
Good and bad reside in me, and I try to improve for good
These truths of mine, aren’t they obvious?

Stifled voices, struggling breaths, tied hands; I live in such times
I sense myself being reduced to nothing, still, I’ve my words
Despite being silenced by diffidence.

A broken me trying to gather her fortitude, find purpose
In accepting truths that define my sense of peace
These truths of mine, aren’t they obvious?
Despite being silenced by diffidence.

Thank you for reading😊😊
